Vermes is now very much in the can. I have now begun the some-what boring task of sending it (along with Garry Cares) off to a bunch of festivals. Hopefully they will be well recieved and I'll keep everyone involved up to date with any news. I am currently in the process of writting a bunch of new scripts and plan to shoot one of these later in the year. Good-bye for now.

The last weekend in March saw the 2 day shoot of our spoof documentary Shotgun Garry (working title). The story focuses on our main character who finds himself at a difficult stage in his life. His wife is very ill and he has the task of caring for her needs. He has recently started a new job to pay the bills and it is this that he seems to be having some issues with. Over the course of the weekend we had a planned schedule which took in various locations around Nottingham including, cemeteries, crack dens, boats, parks, pubs etc. At each of the locations we (small crew and principle actor) met up with some excellent new cast members, shot the scene and then rolled onto the next location. We were like a travelling circus or more aptly a freak show on the road. I personally thought this way of working was very liberating and I think it was perfect for this particular project. This was a new way of working for us, we were shooting using 2 cameras and unscripted. The main reasons for this were to create a more realistic and spontaneous feel, which would keep it in line with the idea of a documentary and also we had a basic plot and character outline which we wanted to develop and grow in an organic kind of way whilst we shot the film. The 2 days went well and we shot an alarming amount of footage, which Anthony and I will start editing soon. Thanks to all those who took part and I can’t wait for it to be complete so I can show you all.

24th November 2009

The shoot for The toilet cleaner took place over the weekend of 26th and 27th September 2009 and nearly all went to plan. We all had a great time over the course of the shoot, even though we were all squeezed into that small toilet area. Over the course of the last 8 weeks, Anthony and I have been looking at the footage and we finally have an edit put together. The initial footage looks a lot darker than I anticipated. We have done some things in post production to try to resolve this issue but then you start to compromise other aspects of the footage. Anyway I hope this is just me being too fussy and in fact I think it adds a sense of dirtiness to the film. It has been sent off to Peter for the score and we are awaiting his response. I am really hoping for the film to be finished this side of the New Year but I am not 100% confident about this. Later folks...
